Intro
At Connoisseur, we offer options – Made-to-order, Made-to-measure, and fully bespoke. Here’s a quick overview of the differences so you can choose the solution that best suits you.
Made-to-order (MTO)
Made-to-order is the obvious choice if you fit a standard size but want to add your personal touch to the suit.
We find the best jacket and trouser size for you, after which you choose the fabric and design according to your wishes – shoulder, lapel, pockets, lining, and much more. For an additional fee, we can make final adjustments once the garment arrives, typically to the trousers or sleeve length.
If many adjustments are needed, we always recommend choosing Made-to-measure instead, as described below.
Made-to-measure (MTM)
Made-to-measure is the correct term for a suit that is custom-made to your measurements and designed precisely to your taste.
We have standard suits in various sizes and cuts and start with the best combination of trousers, jacket, and possibly waistcoat. From there, we measure the desired changes. Since the suit has not yet been produced, there is almost nothing that cannot be adjusted – and even when the standard size fits well, you will typically find that there is still room for improvement.
This could, for example, be a sleeve that "bunches" on the back of the arm, shoulders that are too large or small, or a chest piece that "gapes" and therefore stands out from the chest. These are some of the most common challenges customers experience with an off-the-rack suit – and which often cannot be corrected afterwards. With Made-to-measure, nothing is pre-made, so almost everything can be adjusted.
Bespoke
Bespoke tailoring takes place with a real tailor – not in an ordinary store, no matter what others may claim. If you desire this experience, we highly recommend Karina Mott, whom we greatly respect, or perhaps the most well-known, Peter Unden.
Here, the suit is sewn from scratch and not based on a standard size. This makes the process far more demanding, both professionally and in terms of time, which is also why the price differs significantly from the other solutions. Expect a starting price of around DKK 30,000 and upwards.
If the production takes place outside the tailor's own location, it is not truly bespoke – regardless of what a salesperson might tell you.
We believe that a good and long-lasting customer relationship is built on mutual trust and a high level of professionalism. Therefore, we see it as our responsibility to inform honestly about the differences, rather than starting a relationship based on misinformation. This is precisely what sets us apart from many of our colleagues in the industry.

Lubiam
Some of the finest Italy has to offer – for those who do not compromise.
All production still takes place in Italy, specifically in the city of Mantova, where the story began back in 1911. Horsehair canvas lining is standard, and many of the finishing details are hand-stitched. The fabric comes from the best Italian weaving mills.
Starting price for a Made-to-measure suit: DKK 18,000.
Connoisseur
Our own line comes from one of Europe's most renowned suppliers, who exclusively supplies luxury retailers worldwide. The demands on dealers are high, and we are proud to offer this product.
As standard, we always use horsehair canvas lining – either as semi-canvas (the chest piece) or, for an extra charge, as full-canvas (all the way down). Horsehair has the unique property of adapting to your body over time, so the suit continues to fit better and better, much like a good pair of hand-stitched shoes. At the same time, the fabric can "breathe," making it easier to release excess heat.
The fabric comes from the best Italian and English weaving mills, such as Loro Piana, Ferla, Dugdale, Drago, Vitale Barberis, and Reda.
Prices: from DKK 6,900 for our production in Romania/India, and from DKK 16,000 for Made-in-Italy, produced by Scuderi.
Jesper Klemens
No product is better than the person who takes the measurements. Jesper, who also runs the store, has worked in the fashion industry for over 30 years and takes pride in learning something new every day, so he always has his finger on the pulse.
This applies especially to the professional level, which stands in stark contrast to the many young and unskilled employees one now encounters in stores and department stores. And even though he has acquired some gray hairs along the way, he is still very fashion-oriented and well-equipped to advise both young and more mature customers.
Advice and service are always free.
